LA architects is pleased to confirm that we are winners of an Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) South Award for Architecture 2023. The Winchester Sport and Leisure Park also received awards from the judges for the way in which LA worked closely with Winchester City Council, securing for the Council, RIBA South, Client of the Year, 2023.

The awards judging committee having visited the project reported that,

‘Overall, the Winchester Sport & Leisure Park is a remarkable achievement that showcases the power of thoughtful design and careful planning. It provides a place for activity, sport, and social integration, while also meeting the aspirations of the client and the local community.

Despite the tight budget, the local authority client did not compromise on the quality of the design or the construction. The result is a building that demonstrates clear decision-making and delivers on its purpose of inclusivity, providing a long-lasting facility for the entire community’

LA architects worked hard to create a modern bespoke and careful piece of architecture, of which the people of Winchester can be proud and future generations can respect. It is elegant, refined and sits well within a ecologically improved landscape. We are truly grateful to all members of the Client and delivery teams as the project owes its quality to the partnership and efforts of all, contractors, subcontractors and consultants alike.
