Haven Point, South Tyneside

LA architects were appointed by South Tyneside Council in 2007 to provide a new pools complex in South Shields. As designs developed, the opportunity to include other facilities arose, including an outdoor amphitheatre, terraces for events/exhibitions and a sunbathing area. The facilities include an 8 lane 25m pool, a teaching pool, leisure water, fitness suite, studios, multipurpose rooms and a café/restaurant.

The centre was officially opened on 22 November 2013 by HRH the Duke of Cambridge and Council Leader Councillor Iain Malcolm, who stated: "Haven Point is a world-class facility and demonstrates our continued commitment to investing in the future of our residents and attracting more visitors to the Borough.”

“Mike and his team have an uncanny sense for sharing the vision we were seeking to achieve, really listened effectively, brought forward creative design ideas for our consideration, and did it all in a timely manner. We have been impressed with their willingness to share and contribute ideas, the depth of industry experience which when combined with their skilled, helpful and friendly approach at all levels makes for an exceptionally strong and rewarding working relationship.”
